Client Name: The Padel Club
Scale: 11Nr Padel Courts (9Nr under Canopy and 2Nr open)
Contract Value: £2.5 Million
Description of Project
The Padel Club at Trafford Waters was located within Trafford City, on 1.5acres of land between Chill Factor (ski complex) and Football Fives (football five-a-side).
The site’s original use was a brownfield site owned by Peel and had remained undeveloped until The Padel Club agreed to a lease hold agreement for the site. As part of the lease agreement the site was remediated by Peel including installing a infrastructure road to the site entrance.
Upon taking ownership of the site, The Padel Club undertook the construction of a padel facility, which was part of a larger regeneration project. The site was transformed into a state-of-the-art padel destination, featuring 11 courts, a clubhouse, and various amenities.
The building construction was made up of ring beams and tarmac to allow the courts to be then built along with concrete pads to accommodate the installation of the large canopy structures. A main car park including associated drainage and services provision were also provided along with state-of-the-art clubhouse and external break-out areas.
The main risks with the project involved interface between ring beam installation and the court installations along with the pad construction and the installation of the main canopy
IDS were appointed to provide management, commercial and health & safety support initially during the planning, procurement process and throughout the delivery of the construction works.
