The Greater Manchester Mayor’s Charity is an independent charity which was launched in April 2019.

Focussed on raising money for the issues people care about in Greater Manchester, this independent charity will initially look at helping to reduce homelessness. One of the projects it will support is Bed Every Night, set up to help deliver the Mayor’s ambition to end the need for rough sleeping in our city region.

Every individual on the streets has a different story including relationship breakdown, mental health issues, substance misuse, childhood trauma, domestic abuse, offending, human trafficking, poverty and migration. The profile of rough sleepers in Greater Manchester is changing, with more women and younger people now sleeping on our streets and rough sleepers remain targets for abuse and are a target for criminal activity.

Chair of the Trustees Board, Tim Heatley of Capital&Centric will be joining us at the Christmas Lunch to tell us more about the scheme and how the money we raise will make a difference.

This event is always a sell out so buy your tickets ASAP.

All the sponsors look forward to a great afternoon with you.

It’s time for our 6th Annual Social Christmas Lunch! A chance to network with other property professionals in a relaxed and fun environment whilst raising money for charity.

As our event went so well at The Principal Hotel last year, we’ve decided to go back!

Tickets are only £50 and include a drink on arrival, three course festive lunch, raffle/auction and entertainment. Tables of 10 can be purchased for the discounted price of £450.

Later in the day we will move into the Refuge Bar to party the night away to the live resident Dj’s!

This year’s chosen charity is Millie’s Trust.

Millies Trust logo

Following the loss of 9 nine month old Millie Thompson, who died tragically in a choking incident at nursery on the 23rd October 2012, Millie’s Trust was established in honour of her, with an aim to raise awareness and ensure first aid training is readily available to everyone.

“We want everyone to be able to learn the skills that not only may help you to save your child’s life but also your friend’s, parent’s or partner’s. We want everyone to leave our courses knowing that they can trust in the training they have received that they could help in an emergency situation.”

Millie’s Trust aim to make First Aid training readily available for minimal costs and in as many places as possible. They provide FREE* First Aid awareness courses if you are pregnant, have a child under the age of 12 months or are struggling to find the funds to attend. We also provide a 12-hour Paediatric course for nurseries to ensure more nursery staff become trained.

Dan and Joanne also fought hard to have the law changed so that by September 2016, all newly qualified staff with a childcare qualification must be trained in vital, lifesaving paediatric first aid. A change that will add approximately 15,000 additional trained early year’s professionals to nurseries and pre-schools each year.

Nurseries with 100 per cent trained staff will be able to display a new kite mark scheme, known as ‘Millie’s Mark’ which will help reassure parents that their child is safe and being cared for by knowledgeable staff.

Last year’s event was a great success and a sell out so make sure you purchase your ticket ASAP so you don’t miss out!

All the sponsors look forward to a great afternoon with you.

Social Christmas Lunch

The Social, an invitation-only networking group for those in the property & construction sectors, has raised £6,530 at their Christmas lunch for Stepping Stones Creative.

Established in 2013, Stepping Stones is a voluntary arts organisation, set up to work with vulnerable children, young people and adults with special needs. Stepping Stones enthusiastically collaborate with professional poets, visual artists, performers, movement artists and musicians, using the processes of art to create, to engage, and to raise the voice of all participants.

The fundraiser, which was held at The Principal Hotel in Manchester, was attended by almost 200 business people including representatives from sponsors Innov8 Development Solutions, Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants, Davis Blank Furniss, Bell Munro Consulting and BSD Consulting Engineers. Entertainment was provided by The Morgan Sindall band.

The event was well documented thanks to support from Mike Black Photography and Imperial Photobooth.

The money was raised through tickets sales, a raffle and a silent auction. Artwork created by users of the Stepping Stones Creative service was also auctioned off to contribute towards the fantastic grand total.

Lindsey Fallon of Innov8DS commented; “This is the fifth year we’ve hosted our annual Christmas lunch and each year the event just gets bigger and better! It’s amazing to see the property community come out in force to raise funds for good causes and I’m so pleased we managed to raise over £6000, it’ll make a huge difference to a small charity.”
